How did this idea come about?

EBENE EXPERIENCE was born out of a research project on Caribbean history and culture, especially Antillean, which I conducted on a personal basis. Coming from Martinique, I have long pondered many questions about my identity, especially after moving to mainland France.

This quest for identity led to numerous trips around the world, with about fifty destinations such as Senegal, Gambia, Peru, Jordan, Poland, and Thailand, not to mention my beloved Caribbean islands, of course.

My research, disseminated in the form of Instagram and TikTok posts, has met with some success. The goal of these research efforts is to allow travelers, locals from each region concerned, and myself to better understand the histories and practices. Guadeloupe, Brazil, or even Ivory Coast are above all cultures and rich histories, sometimes painful, before being regions with lush nature.

From the Martinican carnival to traditional Colombian dishes made with iguanas, and even the remnants of the deportation of Africans in Benin, EBENE EXPERIENCE is the desire to discover and experience, through travel, the cultures, traditions, and historical events of these fabulous regions.

However, it was especially my trip to Senegal and Gambia, particularly visiting Goree Island and the ancestral village of the historical figure Kunta Kinteh, Juffureh, that triggered in me the desire to delve further into my quest for identity, like the writer Alex Haley before me. Indeed, during these trips, I was pleasantly surprised by the many similarities in behavior, food, and even vocabulary, with my native Martinique.

Thus, since 2022, in addition to my family tree, I have begun a research project on the origins and stories of practices, traditions, characters, or even words from the Caribbean, gradually extending to the entire Caribbean basin. All of this, linked with the histories and cultures of all continents.
